چکیده

Introduction and Aim: Beta-thalassemia patients develop chronic infections due to the hepatitis G virus (HGV), frequent blood transfusions. This study aimed isolate these viruses from beta-thalassemia Iraqi investigate into 5'UTR genomic region of prevalent genotypes in this region. Materials Methods: The included 154 patients. Blood samples were collected each individual participating study. Genomic RNA was isolated subjected cDNA synthesis. 5' untranslated (5' UTR) DNA amplified by polymerase chain reaction using specific HGV primers sent for sequencing. sequences genotyped bioinformatics tools. Results: results showed infection be 18.2% Sequencing alignment several nucleotide variations. A phylogenetic analysis revealed following infect genotype 4(58.3%), 2b (33.3%) 1b (8.3%). Conclusion: Genotyping gene 1b, 4 among Iraq.

Liver histology in co-infection of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and hepatitis G virus (HGV).

As little is known about liver histology in the co-infection of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and hepatitis G virus (HGV), HGV RNA was investigated in 46 blood donors with hepatitis C, 22 of them with liver biopsy: co-infection HCV / HGV (n = 6) and HCV isolated infection (n = 16). Besides staging and grading of inflammation at portal, peri-portal and lobular areas (Brazilian Consensus), the fibrosis...

Detection of hepatitis G virus (HGV) RNA: clinical characteristics of acute HGV infection.

The role of hepatitis G virus (HGV) infection in acute non-A-E hepatitis was investigated in adults with viral hepatitis. HGV RNA was present in 1 of 28 patients with non-A-E hepatitis but 9 of 22 with hepatitis C (P < .003). HGV RNA-positive patients (HGV-infected and HGV-hepatitis C virus [HCV]-coinfected) developed light-to-moderate jaundice. Clinical and biochemical features of HGV-positive...

Risk factors of hepatitis B virus infection among blood donors in Duhok city, Kurdistan Region, Iraq

Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a public health problem. The lack of information about the seroprevalence and risk factors is an obstacle for preventive public health plans to reduce the burden of viral hepatitis. Therefore, this study was conducted in Iraq, where no studies had been performed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of HBV infection. Methods: Blood sample...

High prevalence of hepatitis G virus (HGV) infection in renal transplantation.

INTRODUCTION The newly discovered (1995) hepatitis G virus (HGV) is an RNA virus from the Flaviviridae family with 85% genomic homology to GB virus C (GBV-C). We studied the prevalence of HGV infection among a cohort of 398 renal transplant recipients (RTR), all of whom had previously received blood transfusions, been grafted between August 1984 and December 1991, and been treated by cyclospori...
